We’ve organized our metadata for each dataset by each Law Enforcement Agency (LEA). Each PDF contains detailed information about each variable name, definition, attributes, and notes on methodology. Follow the links below to download the documentation.
Charge Codes
One of the key variables in our datasets includes the California arrest charge code corresponding to each arrest/booking. As part of our analysis MDH groups individual charge codes into generalized charge groups for analysis and interpretation. The link below contains a detailed interactive breakdown of the source charge codes and charge descriptions and the corresponding MDH defined grouping.
