GIS Specialist

Mariah Tso (she/they) is a Diné cartographer, who finds joy in being creatively disruptive. She is a GIS Specialist for the Ralph J. Bunche Center and the Million Dollar Hoods Project. Recognizing data and maps as inherently forms of power. She views mapping and data work as inherently relational practices, deeply intertwined with the power of worldbuilding and dismantling hierarchies of knowledge production. Mariah received her master’s degree in geographic information systems from the University of Redlands and her bachelor’s in environment, economics, and politics from Scripps College. Her passions include critical cartography, Indigenous methodologies, and interdisciplinary storytelling.
